  • ... an unexpected blessing ...

… In the hedges and alleys… About 1,986 years ago, Jesus told a story; there was one man a bit of a grind and baie mense gooi it. He send sy slave to see vir those genooides: "Come on, those grinding times are ready. But hulle start almal, who, one after another, make verse king. That slave come back and tell all this to sy eien. Toe se die man vir sy slave: "go out after those streets and corridors of that city and bring those poor, crippled, blind, and paralyzed here. Later that slave will come se "Sir, your command is done, and there is still room. Please se that man vir that slave; "Get out after those spawning and lanings and urge Hulle to come in so that my house can become full." On October 2, 2017, a contemporary version of this story will take place. Everyone is excited. The decorations are ready, the food has been bought and the Goeie Hoop children have practiced hard on their steps and dances. Tomorrow is the big day; "Mr & Ms spring 2017" The guests are invited for a long time to be fed and kept informed of the preparations. In this case 70 children and their supervisors from a Children's Home in Cape Town. While the balloons are being inflated and the vegetables are being cut, I (Ida Born) print the latest programs at the office. Then there is a knock on my door. They are Mom Fezie and Aunty Vuyo, 2 of our Youth Care workers. Astonishment and disbelief can be seen on their faces. "We have bad news," they say. Bad news only means 1 thing to me; "The guests are not coming!" Sure enough, at the last minute it turned out that there was no money available for gasoline to transport the children from Cape Town to Goeie Hoop. "A farmer make a plan" is a well-known expression in South Africa. We jump in the car and make a calculation on the way. We are inviting 20 girls from Kinderhuis Unako, 20 street boys from Bright Lights and maybe we can also gather 30 children at Vlakteplaas and Boorgate. No sooner said than done. It is a sweltering day and the adrenaline boosts our body heat even more. We set out with passion. It is literally "the hedges and bars" where we hope to find our guests. And we find them; amazed at the great surprise that awaits them tomorrow. An unexpected blessing for their children! It turned out to be a day with a golden edge. God had a better plan. Unako, "God can"!
